Both his little brother Mikey and his apparent girlfriend Athena kept breathing hard and moaning and Mikey's bed creaking. Jon couldn't believe that he had gotten himself into this situation. He was just about to totally lose it, when suddenly he was back in the hallway: the twenty minutes were up. He let out a big sigh of relief.
He put his ear up to the door. He could still hear them. "Ugh," he said with disgust. He didn't think he'd want to "visit" his brother for a while. Maybe even until after the week was over.
"Jon?" It was Zoe's voice.
He turned around.
"Jon, where have you been? I've been looking all over for you." She held up two comic books, one Batman and the other Superman. Then she smiled. It was weird to see Zoe smile. Usually she was in a bad mood. "I wanted to show you these new comics I got today. Aren't they cool?"
"Sure." It was all he could say. He was just so astounded by her mood. She was actually happy. "Why don't you show them to me?"
Her face brightened even more. "Thanks, Jon." She pulled him into her room and they read the comics together.
And, suddenly, all of the misery of being kept in Mikey's room drifted away, as he looked at the comic books with his sister.
