About thirty minutes later, when Jon was done with nearly half of his homework, he heard his dad come home. Curious as to how his father had changed, Jon decided to take a break.
He opened his bedroom door just in time to see his dad walking down the hallway, wearing a white collared shirt with the name GameStop embroidered on it.
"Dad?" Jon asked. "Why are you wearing that shirt?"
"Because I'm the manager of GameStop? Listen, Jon. Can't talk right now. We just got this new game in stock and I just have to try it out," he said excitedly.
"Video games will rot your brain, Dad," Jon said. He couldn't believe he just said that.
"Whatever, Jon," his youthful father said. He walked into his bedroom and closed the door. Moments later, Jon heard music and sound effects. His dad was probably playing his video game.
Jon shook his head and returned to his bedroom. As he sat down at his desk to finish his homework, he suddenly realized that he was acting just like his father and his father was acting just like him.
But that's what he wished for.
