Jon's cell phone rang. It was Tiffany, one of Sarah's friends.
"This is, like, so not a good time," Jon told her.
"Too busy to, like, talk to a friend?" she asked him.
Jon all of a sudden wanted to talk to her. He desired it. "Like, no way. I totally want to talk. It's just that I, like, have a problem."
"Still can't find a boyfriend?"
Boyfriend? Jon thought. Am I, like, gay?
Jon answered by saying "Duh."
"Well, I'm sure the right guy is, like, out there somewhere," she said.
Jon couldn't believe he was having this conversation. But he was compelled to keep talking ...
