Jon was interrupted in his thoughts of toy world conquest by a knock at the door. An hour ago, he might have taken his time getting there, but he suddenly felt playful and he wanted to get to the door before anyone else. Running past his younger brother in the hall, he bolted down the stairs, jumping over the last four steps and nearly slamming into the door. He grabbed the door and pulled it open.
...only to see Karyn. He rolled his eyes for a second and let out a sigh. He guessed that they were still friends and all, but he really didn't feel like hanging out with her and talking about dumb things like clothes and boys and school. The fact that her hair was it's old red color and her breasts were their original size from three days ago never even crossed his mind. "Oh it's only you, Karen" he said, doing a poor job of hiding his disappointment.
"Wow, gee thanks, Jon" she remarked with a playful smile. Jon thought her reaction to be unexpectedly good.
There was a pregnant pause with Jon standing in the doorway before Karyn finally spoke again. "Um... Jon? Is Mikey here?"
Now Jon really was surprised. Why did Karyn want to hang out with Mikey and not him. I mean, it wasn't like he cared, because after all, he didn't want to spend his afternoon hanging out with a girl anyways, but he had also assumed that she would still want to hang out with him. He didn't notice Mikey walking up behind him.
"Oh hey Karyn," Mikey said as he approached the door. "Thanks for agreeing to tutor me with my math homework."
"No problem," she said, giving him a wide smile.
Jon rolled his eyes again. He hated math, it was so boring and he had so much trouble with it all the time. At least he thought. Maybe he didn't. He couldn't remember. He felt like he was good at it before, but he hated it now or something. Either way, Jon didn't want to stick around. He ran back up to his room (and the stone) so quickly that he didn't notice Karyn take Mikey by the hand as they walked upstairs to his room.
