Jon wondered if he should stay around or if he should take this as a cue to go spy on his mother already. But before he could make a decision, the doorbell rang.
Jon's father stood up from the couch and answered the door. It was Karyn.
"Hi, Mr. Gibson. I just came over to talk with Jon," Karyn said.
"Oh, I don't think my son is home right now."
Karyn looked confused. "What are you talking about? He's right there," she said, pointing directly at Jon, who was standing at the edge of the living room.
Jon's father turned and looked, but thanks to Jon's wish, he didn't see anyone. "There's no one there."
"Karyn, just come in. I'll explain," Jon said.
"Uhh ... could I just wait for him?" Karyn asked Jon's father.
"Sure. I'm sure he'll be back soon."
Karyn walked in and met up with Jon, then they both went upstairs. "What was that all about?" she asked, as they walked to Jon's bedroom.
