"Zoe, what's Athena-and-Zelda's last name?" asked Jon. He had strained to imitate how she had pronounced the fused first name of her friends.
Zoe sighed. "Black. Why do you care?"
So Athena and Zelda belong to Karyn's family now, thought Jon. I guess I'm still a Madison. He was mildly relieved. But what about Karyn? he wondered. How would she adjust to being the daughter of two families at once?
"One more question," said Jon.
"What?!" Zoe was getting sick of hanging around with a Goth freak like her big brother Jon. She dressed "normally" now, but her temper hadn't changed.
Jon glanced at Karyn. "What are the full names of the two people with me?"
"Karyn DeVries and Karyn Whitefield. I can't believe I remembered that. Can I go now?!"
