Jon entered the bedroom. He saw Karyn standing at the window. She turned round when she heard the door open. "I saw the others leaving." Karyn told him. "Is it really you?"
Jon held up his hand. The ARD glowed dimly on his wrist. Karyn came running towards him. She put her arms around him in a hug. Jon reciprocated. She pulled back a little but still had her hands on his hips. "It's been a strange day." He said.
"For me too." She gave him an unexpected kiss on the cheek as they separated. "The other Jon and Karyn said you'd gone to a world where you didn't exist." Jon nodded. He decided to give her a few of the details of his adventure.
"Yeah, the cops turned up to interview me at first. They just sort of stopped and went away. Zoe had the stone instead of me. There were lots of other Jons and Karyns there."
"Did they all have those gameboy things?" She asked. Jon nodded again.
"We all had to stand touching each other because I was the only one there with an ARD. There was an extra Karyn, stuck in the basement, who had used the stone or something. I'm not sure I really understand any of it."
"Sounds quite exciting."
"Scary too. A Jon and Karyn showed up and hit Zoe just as she was making a wish. If they hadn't done that we'd have all been sucked into some weird dimension we couldn't escape from."
Karyn looked shocked. "I would have lost you forever then." Jon could see a tear run down her face.
"Is something wrong?" He asked. Karyn shook her head.
"It's just with you going missing it's made me realise how much I cared about you. Now you told me you could have been lost forever." She lowered her head. "I don't think I could face a world like that." She moved closer to him again.
"I guess I missed you too. We're buddies right? We care about each other."
"Oh it's so much more than that Jon." She leaned forward and kissed him on the lips. It surprised Jon at first but when he realised what was happening he leaned forward into the kiss. Eventually Karyn pulled away and Jon reluctantly let go of her. "I couldn't go another minute without letting you know how I felt." Jon stood with a huge grin on his face barely able to comprehend what had just happened. "I guess you enjoyed that."
"It was amazing." Jon put his arm around her waist. "I never kissed anyone like that before." He admitted. Karyn smiled.
"So does this mean you feel the same way about me?"
"I guess we are more than buddies now." Karyn put her arm around him. She fell backwards deliberately and they both landed on the bed in a fit of giggles. Jon looked down into her eyes. "This is all a bit sudden though. It feels like a dream." She rubbed her hands up and down his back.
"I think deep down I've felt like this for a while. Everything that happened today has brought it to the surface. We need to enjoy the time we have together. We never know what's going to happen." She moved her hand from his back to his waistband. She started unbuckling his belt. Jon slid his own hand under the hem of Karyn's top.
"True." He said as she slipped her fingers into his underwear.
