Seeing a message from Karyn was a great relief. I had worried that, with all of the other changes to reality, that we would no longer be friends. I quickly opened up the message and read it.
Hey girl, how are you doing? The hospital must be putting you through some crazy tests to keep you away from your phone this long. Let me know what's up.
It was strange to see a text from Karyn calling me girl, for a moment, but the Autumn part of my mind was used to it, so the strangeness passed quickly. I decided to respond.
I'm fine. Think all of the testing is finally done with, so hoping to be out in an hour or two. I'll let you know when I get home.
After replying to Karyn's message, I decided to go through all of the others that had been sent to me throughout the day. I was kind of amazed at the sheer number of people who had sent me messages. As Jon, I had not had nearly this many people registered to my phone. But I knew that as Autumn, I was clearly at least as popular as Sarah had been, if not more so.
My attention was taken from the phone by the sound of the door to my room opening. I looked up, and saw Summer entering, followed by our younger sister Winter. Though I had yet to actually meet her, I could easily recall info from Autumn's memories.
"How ya feeling, sis?" Summer asked.
I slipped my phone back into my purse as I sat up a bit more. "I'm doing alright. My headache is gone now. I'm just a bit tired."
"Everyone was talking about you all day, once blabbermouth here spread word." Winter said, taking a seat on the bed.
"Hey, I only told our friends. The teachers made announcements about it in each of her classes."
"Yeah, but your friends are all just as bad as you are. Word had spread all over school by 10:30."
"Winter, chill out and be nice, alright." I said to my younger sister. It was so easy to see Zoe in her, though a much more calm Zoe. "I don't really care if people know. It's not a big deal."
"Everyone was really worried. Karyn and Tiff nearly had heart attacks when I told them what was happening with you this morning."
"Well, like I said, I'm feeling better now." I said, looking up at the clock. "Any word from mom or dad? I want to get out of here ASAP."
"Yeah, we saw mom down the hall, talking to a doctor. I guess they called daddy and her when your tests were done, but he's stuck in meetings all afternoon, so she came down." Summer said, also taking a seat on my bed.
"Cool. I just wanna get home." I said. And start figuring out how to get back to normal.
"Well, good news then." I heard mom say as she entered the room. "You've been cleared to come home. The doctors are confident that whatever happened this morning was an isolated incident. Though they have advised us to keep a close eye on you, just in case it happens again."
"Fantastic!" I said. As much as I wanted to jump out of the bed, with my lingering headache, I decided to just slowly stand up. Making sure to grab my purse as I did so. "Do we have to fill out paperwork or anything?"
"Already taken care of." Mom said. "Now, I need to stop by the office for a bit to pick up some paperwork for an upcoming case. Can I trust you girls to make it home safely?"
"Of course, mom." Summer said.
"No stopping anywhere, Summer. I don't want Autumn over exerting herself."
"I get it, mom. Come on, Aught, Winter, let's get home." Summer said. The three of us left the hospital room, Summer and I to the front, Winter trailing slightly behind.
I was excited to finally get home, and start fixing all of this.
