I glanced up at the clock. 11:30 I thought. An hour and a half had passed since I awoke in the hospital after 17 years worth of memories were forced into my mind. And, in that hour and a half, I found one thing kept coming to mind...

"Hospitals blow." I mumbled to myself. Watching TV had failed utterly to keep my attention, even with all the channels that my new father's money were able to unlock. There was simply too much going on in my head right now to even consider vegging out and watching any shows or movies.

I glanced over toward the purse...my purse, on the table next to me. I reached for it and opened it up, rummaging around in it for a moment. I was quickly able to find my cell phone, the latest and greatest smart phone on the market. I found that it off, and quickly powered it on.

The second it completely loaded, it was hit with a barrage of text messages. I recognized some of the names as other students at my school. Seems word spreads quickly. I thought. I decided to come back to the texts later. For now, I needed to collect some information.

My memories did a fine job filling me in on my parents...or rather, my current parents. It seemed that with the old Mrs. McMillan was out of the picture during their high school days, so my mom (regardless of which reality I was in) got together with my dad (in the current reality). In my old reality, I didn't think they knew each other, or if they did, they were not friendly. Clearly Mrs. McMillan had a drastic effect on my fathers social life.

I knew searching the web for the old Mrs. McMillan would do no good. She had been removed completely from reality. And, ultimately, searching for her would not help me fix this situation. Regardless of the memories I had gained that morning, I knew this world was not the right one, and I intended to fix it.

I searched for my old grandfathers name, and found very little to go on. A few articles on some findings from his expeditions, a few papers he wrote, and sadly, his obituary. I had held the slimmest hope that he would still be alive in this reality, but it seemed that it was not meant to be.

However, that must mean one thing. If he had still found the stone in this reality, which I had no reason to believe that he would not have, then he must have left it to either my old father, or some member of his family. Searching his name, however, yielded no results. It seemed that Leo Gibson was a bit too common of a name to easily locate a specific one.

I was sitting there, pondering what else I could look up to find my way to the stone, when the doctor and a nurse came in. I stuck my phone back in my purse as they told me that it was time for some tests.

And, those tests, as tedious and annoying as they were, helped to eat up a large chunk of the day. I was able to return to my room at about 2 in the afternoon, with the knowledge that once my parents arrived, I could be signed out and head home. The doctors, it seemed, had determined my episode to be an unexplainable, and isolated, incident.

I grabbed my phone the moment I reentered the room, eliciting a comment from the nurse about how "Teenage girls these days are may as well be attached to their phones." I almost made a wry response to the comment, but the moment I picked up the phone, a received a text. Looking down at the name, I gasped in surprise and relief.

"New message: Karyn Black."
