But Jon didn't stop. He kept running until he was standing on the McMillan's front lawn. As he stood there, he watched as someone emerged from the house. Assuming that it was Sarah, he fired off the device.
Unfortunately, Karyn wasn't within five feet of the device, so her memories changed to fit the new reality, whatever it was.
He suddenly saw who it was he'd hit as that person vaporized. It was Sarah's mother, Susan. From what he'd seen of Sarah's mother over the years, she was like an adult version of Sarah.
Jon felt dizzy suddenly and closed his eyes. He felt like he could feel reality shifting around him...producing a great feeling of dislocation...as if he was no longer in the same place. But that made sense, if Susan never existed, neither did Sarah, and therefore, he wouldn't have come here.
He opened his eyes...and Sarah was sitting across from him. "What's wrong?" She asked.
