"What are you going to use it on first?" Karyn asked Jon.
"I don't know. What do you think?"
"How about your computer?" Karyn suggested. "You said that you could take it over."
Jon remembered telling Karyn that, but he really wanted to try the device out on something living first. "I don't know ..."
"Oh, come on, Jon. You couldn't think of anything better. That's why you asked me."
"Okay, fine," he said, giving in. He aimed the device at his desktop computer and pulled the trigger.
From Karyn's point-of-view, Jon disappeared in a blink and the device fell to the floor with a thud. "Jon? Where'd you go?" But, of course, he wouldn't be able to answer, since he was now in his computer.
Although, maybe he could answer.
Karyn turned her attention towards Jon's computer monitor and saw a word document program starting up. Once a blank sheet appeared, text started to fill the screen.
IT'S REALLY WEIRD, KARYN. I CAN HEAR EVERYTHING YOU SAY, EVEN THOUGH I DON'T HAVE ANY EARS.
"So, you can hear me right now?"
YEAH. I CAN'T SEE YOU, BUT I CAN HEAR YOU. I REALLY CAN'T EXPLAIN WHAT THIS FEELS LIKE.
Karyn bent over and picked up the device off the floor. And that was when she noticed the time limit setting.
"Jon, did you set the time limit on this thing?"
OH MY GOD, KARYN. I DIDN'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. WHAT'S IT SET AT?
"It's set at ..." Karyn answered.
