I was introduced to the class and we were immediately put to work with multiple tests and quizzes. They were relatively easy for me. I was able to ace them and be near the top of the class. It went on for a few days before we had Gym. It was a swimming class. Everyone was given a navy blue swimsuit to wear and had to change in the locker room. When I got undressed, I saw that the guys were looking at me weird. They were quiet but they were all sneaking glances at me. When I got out onto the pool deck, I was looked at the girls too. Eventually, the coach told me that I had to sit out. "I don't know what your story is, but that tattoo is not welcomed here." he said with a distrusting look on his face. I looked at him and shrugged. I went to the bleachers where four boys were already sitting. They looked at me with calculating eyes. I looked back at them as I sat down. "Aren't the Butterfly's only for women? Why do you got one of their tattoos?" one of the asked. 'That's what's happening.' I realized at that moment. "I don't care about them. I liked it, so I got it. No one controls me." I told them.
That was the thing they wanted to hear as they smiled. I smiled back as they introduced themselves. They were Mike, Jack, Evan and Desmond. Mike had four dragonfly wings. They could not get wet. Evan had super speed that made swimming or running a moot point. Desmond had hydrokinesis and was a huge trouble maker. All four of them were. Jack was able to shoot energy blasts from his palms. We befriended each other that period. They were the delinquents of the class and ran with the larger group of delinquents in the school. For the next few days we went around hanging out with the group and laughing it up. Most of them were real bullies. I let them do their thing and watched from the sidelines. Others liked to fight a bit more than others and that was more dangerous. My powers allowed me to blink from one place to another as far as I could see. It made it so it was hard to hit me unless they took me from behind. That only happened once and I gave the guy as good as I got. I earned my place among them. I asked what they were going to be doing for high school.
All five of them wanted to get into Intrepid University. It was the third rated school for heroing and it was pretty big. It was also the best they could hope for with their grades. "I heard that they have two hero majors, two for sidekicks and four general admissions courses." I said. They nodded. "It starts there and then we'll go for the #1 spot!" Jack said. Evan rolled his eyes and said "Get real! You never see any top 10 heroes from Intrepid. We'll be lucky to break the top 50!" I said "Fuck that! The sky's the limit. We can do whatever we want. We have power and we can do it if we try." That pumped them up as we walked over to the others. As we hung out in the park, a group of older boys were going around laughing and playing. "Those guys are some of the guys that graduated from the school a few years ago. They were like us when they were in the school." Desmond whispered in my ear as we got close. There were certainly looking confident. A couple of them were a bit less so. They were wearing collars. I learned from the menu that it was the sign a submissive "belonged" to a dominant.
