"Aww come on Jon. You're kidding me."
"No Karyn. Before I used the pencil, the only things with wings were bats and birds. And insects."
"That's crazy. Why would such a simple sentence make so many huge changes?"
"I don't know Karyn. Maybe the wings have something to do with us being more futuristic?" We both were quiet for a minute, thinking about what might have caused the wings. Then another thought popped into my head. "Hey Karyn."
"Hmm?"
"Can I, see your wings?"
She laughed again. "Well sure Jon, but you have your own."
"What!" I exclaimed. Immediately I reached over my shoulder to try to feel the wings. But in the processes I shrugged said shoulders, causing my wings to flap reflexively, and pushing my shirt up in an awkward and quite painful manner. "Ow ow ow!" I started hopping all over the room trying to get the shirt off so I could free my newly acquired appendages. Karyn just stood there with her hand over her mouth, trying to hod back giggles.
Finally she took pity on me. "Come here silly." I hopped over in her direction, and she smoothly pulled the shirt over my head. In an equally graceful movement, she pulled her own shirt off, leaving her standing in my room topless except for a pink sports bra.
I was amazed by how fit she looked. She had a perfect six pack, and was pretty muscular for a girl. Not so muscular so as to appear weird, just enough to sort of accentuate her curves. She had he kind of body most girls would die for.
Then she extended her beautiful russet brown wings and it took my breath away. It was amazing that she could fold them up perfectly under her shirt, since extended they almost reach from wall to wall. Relaxing a little bit, I used a part of my brain that hadn't been thee before, and soon found my wings extending as well. My wingspan was even bigger, and I had to sort of fold them in at the corners so they could even fit in my room.
I was also mildly impressed with my own body. I too had a six pack, and generally the build of a cross country runner. Which made sense, since I'm sure flying isn't exactly the easiest activity around.
"This is so weird. It's like my wings are an arm or something." I flapped my wings a couple of times, but it felt kind of, I don't know, I satisfying, because the room wasn't large enough to really feel the full power of my wings.
"We'll of course they do silly. It's in our natural instincts to fly. It would be pretty pointless if our wings felt like some strange attachment that we couldn't control."
"Yeah, I suppose so."
"Mmmm, I love you so much." Without warning, not that I minded in the slightest, she slid up next to me and wrapped her arms around my neck. I was quick to reciprocate, wrapping my own arms around her waist and intwining my fingers together so they rested in the small of her back. I pulled her closer to me, and she leaned her head up to stare into my eyes. I bent my head down, and our lips met in a kiss. It started out slow, just our lips lingering on each others, but as we became even more intwined, her body fitting into mine like a lock and a key, I deepened the kiss and it became much more passionate. I was dimly aware of the fact that my wings were flapping sporadically on their own accord, but for the most part I was lost in the moment.
My hands started roaming her body, but all too soon she pulled back, though she still kept her arms wrapped around my neck. She had a sly smile on her face, and I knew she knew exactly what I wanted, and she was denying me it just 'cause she could. Instead, she said, "Well if you didn't have wings before you used the pencil, then it seems a fertile crime not to let you experience the joys of flight, doesn't it?" She walked over to my desk, where the stone, pencil and paper with the writing on it were still sitting. "How bout we go for a quick flight around the state, just so you can see what's changed? But it'd probably be a good idea to hide these, in case your mom or Zoe comes in while we're gone." I was glad to find out that Zoe was still my sister, even though we weren't always on the best of terms. I briefly wondered if she was still goth, and had done something like paint her wings black, but I had more important things on my mind.
I was actually pretty interested in flying, so I was quick to agree. "Alright, sounds like fun. Umm, I'll just put a shirt on, then we can go."
Karyn giggled a little at that. "Yeah, maybe it would be a good idea for me to do that too."
After the magic items were safely stored away, we each stepped into our respective closets. It didn't take me long to figure out how to fold my wings through the slits in the back of my shirt. I also slipped on a windbreaker, because I remembered reading somewhere that it is colder at house altitudes. Karyn was still changing, probably having to pick out just the right shirt, so I finally got to look out the window.
As I thought, the window did take up the entire wall. And view was something that would have been very scary if I couldn't fly. I was several hundred feet up in the air. Everything around the building I was in was forest, for about as far as the eye could see, but the trees were so far below that I couldn't even distinguish one for the next. Even with my wings, I was a little nervous about being so high, but I hopped I would be alright.
Karyn announced that she was done simply by using her phone to send a remote signal to the window, which, as I turns out, was a also a giant door that folded out and to the left. Immediately a huge gust of wind whipped into my room.
"Ready?" Karyn asked with a smile.
"Umm, I guess. As ready as I'll ever be."
"Well then let's go!" She ran straight at the open window, jumping out into the open air like was as east as walking. It took her a moment to stabilize herself in the air, but then she was able to turn around and gesture for me to join her. Gulping down my sudden rush of nerves, I ran forward and took the leap.
