Jon stared at his siblings in disbelief. They had just swapped genders in front of his eyes and they continued as if everything was normal. Even his mother, who had been in the same room at the time of the switch, acted like nothing had happened.
Jon watched as his mom carried out a normal conversation with his brother and sister. Asking them how school was, if they had any homework and how their friends were. That sort of thing.
“Honey?” his mom asked suddenly, looking at him. “Why aren’t you eating anything? Are you alright? It’s your favorite, chicken salad.”
Jon grimaced and looked down at his plate. Apparently, not only had his fashion choice been swapped with Karyn but also her tastes in food. Jon was aware that his mother was looking at him, so he quickly started eating. To his surprise, it actually tasted pretty good.
That seemed to satisfy his mother as she returned to chatting with her children.
“So, Mylie, are there any cute gurls that you like at school yet?”
“Mom!” His brother, Mylie?, whined, blushing a little.
“What?” Mom asked innocently. “Is a mother not allowed to take an interest in her sonnes love life?”
Mylie fidgeted with his hair and looked down. “Maybe,” he replied quietly. Their mom laughed and then patted Mylie’s head gently.
“Alright, I won’t pry any more if you don’t want me to.” Mylie seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.
“Zephyr, how are you and Troey doing?”
Jon blinked. Zephyr and Troey? Jon knew that before his wish that his sister Zoe was dating a guy named Trevor. Did that mean that they had swapped with each other? It kind of made sense because now that he thought about it, Zoe—or Zephyr, as her new name seemed to be—was wearing a similar sort of clothing to what he had seen Trevor wear.
Jon racked his brains. When he and Karyn swapped, they seemed to exchange names somehow. He was now Jaryn and she was now Konathan. The same thing seemed to have happened to his sister and her boyfriend. Did that mean that people were swapping with their lovers? Jon did have a crush on Karyn, after all.
