Once his vision had returned, Jon blinked and looked around, and then at his two siblings, and gasped.

Mikey and Zoe were still sitting at the table in the same positions that Jon had seen them in before the flash, but they were different. Zoe looked more like a boy for one thing, and Mikey definitely looked like a girl. His hair was done up in pigtails!

Jon blinked again and looked up at his mother who was just finishing up serving their dinner and she was acting as if nothing had happened. She placed Jon’s plate in front of him and then looked at him.

“Are you ok, Jaryn? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” She giggled a little at her comment.

Jon shook his head. Ignoring for the moment the fact that his mom had called him Jaryn.

“Did you just see a flash?” he asked. His mom shook her head.

“No, I didn’t see a flash. Are you sure you’re feeling alright?” she asked, starting to sound concerned.

“Never mind,” Jon replied. It seemed that, based on his conversation with Karyn and with his mom, he was the only one who noticed the flash. That kind of made sense because, since he made the wish, he was the only one who noticed.

Jon’s mom looked at her sonne for a few more moments before deciding that hei was fine and finished serving their dinner. Meanwhile, Jon examined his siblings.

His younger sister of two years, Zoe, slouched back on her chair as she waited for mom to sit down. Her demeanour and her choice of clothing told Jon that she was still a goth only her attire was more suited to the male gender. Her dyed-black hair was cut shorter than normal. It normally reached to the middle of her back, but now it sat just above her shoulders and was styled in a way that a guy might.

She wore a black tank top with fishnet sleeves; if he leaned over slightly, he could see that instead of her normal black skirt, she was wearing black baggy pants that were ripped and held up with a big metal belt.

Mikey, on the other hand, was a complete contrast to his sister. The ten-year-old looked like a typical girly girl. As Jon had noted earlier, his hair, which was blonde, had been styled into pigtails—a typical look that Jon had seen on some of the girls at Mikey’s school.

He wore a pink T-shirt that had the words “Mommy’s Little Prince” on the front in glitter lettering, and he wore a white pleated skirt and black mary-jane shoes with white stockings that went up to his knees. Jon shook his head. What on earth had happened to his siblings?

As he shook his head, Jon looked down and was reminded of what he was wearing, Karyn’s baggy sweater and a pair of her jeans. He could even feel the strap of a bra underneath the sweater. He needed to get the stone and figure out what was happening.

Unfortunately, though, he couldn’t right now, as his mother had just sat down and they began eating. Jon noted that even though the table was set for four, it was just the three of them, and that must have meant that Dad was working late again.
