She hated slavers and she was determined to make sure these slavers had enslaved the last person of their career. Samantha closed the distance to the man with the whip before he could lash out at her properly, her short sword found a home in the man’s chest and spun him his body into the net of the other man as she pulled her blade free from the body.
“Keep your focus on your own battle,” Samantha saw Albert looking at how things were going for her. He was dealing with the more dangerous opponents and needed to stay focused. She would help him if when she could but this was a battle he needed to win on his own if he could or at least hold out until help could arrive.
“I will,” Albert responded as he dodged a swing from a mace. He knew she was right but she looked so small and weak now it was hard to not worry even if he had worries of his own.
The man with the maces was the bigger threat and should be dealt with quickly if he could. Albert made sure to not allow the other person to get behind his back and watched for an opening. He blocked both maces with his shield as the large man brought down a double against him nearly knocking the squire to the ground. Albert released his grip on the shield causing the man to go off balance and pressed forward with his longsword with both hands. The slaver cried out in pain as he fell backward, dead. His partner moved forward to attack but the squire had already rolled to safety and pulled a set of daggers.
Albert darted back from the swing of the slaver’s weapon and prepare to throw the daggers. He wasn’t very confident about throwing the weapons but the reach was too great to move in on unless he was very luck and if he distracted the man enough he might be able to collect his sword. His dagger flew through the and struck the man in the shoulder and the second blade scored a direct hit in the man’s heart. The slaver looked stunned for a moment before collapsing to the ground in death. He didn’t give himself a chance to congratulate himself on the victory as he pulled the long sword free and turned to his attention to Lady Samantha.
“Nice work,” Samantha said with a smile on her face as she stood over the corpse of the final slaver. “Let’s free the citizens and give these criminals slavers a burial.”
The ladies thank them for their assistance, giving special attention to the handsome young squire who was so brave and skilled with a sword. They let them take the slaver’s wagon and coin to help them start a new life. Sunlight had started to fade from the sky as they finished the burying of the dead. They needed to decide on a course of actions for the continuation of their journey.
