The next day, they were visited by a courier. She had a copy of the letter sent to all the settlements in Sacrilmon. The king had been taken by religious fervor. He wanted to create a great work to the gods and bring favor to the land. In order to do this, he decided to build a new major temple. In order to make a decision on what Church to devote it to, he was throwing a tournament. The winner could decide the devotion of the temple. There were two requirements to join the tournament. You had to be a citizen of a citizen of the country by the time of receiving the letter. You also have to be a baptized under a Church operating in Sacrilmon. I was so glad I paid for all of our citizenship. We were all eligible to compete. And with four level 75 Protectors, it should be a breeze. It was a kingdom level quest. There were randomly firing settlement, kingdom, and world events that led to certain quest line tasks and missions. An example would be a war or an invasion. They could fire off at anytime to allow the Players to have the choice to leave marks on the world and explore different scenarios.
Even if we did lose the tournament, the building of the temple would have lots of opportunities to get some interesting quests. Hopefully, that would not be necessary. To begin the quest, I needed to go to the capitol city of Illhir and register for the tournament. Abel and Daniel were technically not citizens and so could not join in. That was fine as they were commanders as well. I gathered Chien, Chat and Leon and told everyone my intentions. Abel's face looked skeptical. "You, win a tournament!? How are you thinking you'll do that? They're going to have to protect you for the whole thing." he said. I rolled my eyes. "I can hold my own in a fight, Abel. I might not be a super soldier like you, but Daniel and I clear dungeons." He rolled his eyes. I had made up my mind and we set out. I rode with Chien and Chat rode with Leon. It took us a full day to get there. When we got to the gates, we were let in without much fuss. Being a knight certainly had its perks. There was a large gladiatorial arena for fights in the entertainment section of the city. There was a sign up for the tournament in the arena.
A games master was taking names. "So, uh... Seven Roses? Is it even alright for them to be in this?" He looked at the royal scribe that was by him. The scribe nodded at him and said "It's unfortunate, but it seems as though a loophole is in the decree. It does operate in Sacrilmon and they are citizens. They won't make it any further than the preliminaries." The games master said "Fine. Sir Canan Hawks and Sirs Chien, Chat and Leon of Pollo. You can wait here in Illhir. I think it should only be a day until the tournament starts. We want everyone that can compete to be able to get here. "What about the Church of the Dragon's Flame? Are they going to be here?" I asked them. They shared a look and the scribe said "There were a couple of them. But we already have 132 names here and many more in line after you." I took the hint that they wanted us gone. We went to the inn and were lucky to find a single room to stay in. I got the bed and Chien and Chat crawled in after me. Leon was way too proud to ask for the bed unlike the comfort men. He fell asleep in a chair.
