At 5:30 in the evening, Alex's shift at the store was over. He clocked out with a sigh and got ready to leave. Leslie was also walking over to clock out. Alex noticed that the other male coworkers were giving her looks. Alex approached her and asked if she wanted to get a drink with him. She shook her head. "I have a date tonight. I don't think it's going to be anything serious." she said apologetically. She then murmured "It never is." When Alex looked at her, she snapped out of it and put a smile on her face. She said "I'll be over tomorrow for some video games." Leslie then went past Alex and clocked out. She then left the store on her own. Alex had nowhere else to go and eventually just decided to go home. Alex left on his way to his apartment with his uniform still on. Because he was only seven blocks away from the store, he never saw the point of packing a change of clothes like some of his coworkers. They lived far from the store or had something planned directly after work. On the block he lived on, there were some thugs that did some work for the local gang.
There were some of the thugs that he was cool with and some that he was not. For example, the three sitting on the stoop were were pretty nice to him. They stopped Alex from getting mugged by other members of the gang in an alley. There were four Gangs in the city, the Clovers, the Hearts, the Diamonds and the Spades. Alex's apartment was near the border of the Clovers and Hearts. The store was firmly in Hearts territory, but the gangsters looking at Alex were repping the white and green of the Clovers. There was Leo, a blond with green eyes; Toby, a brunette with light brown eyes; and Mark, a black haired guy with blue eyes. The were all really athletic and built. Much more so than Alex could hope of being without changing their lifestyle around. "Hey! Have those Hearts assholes been leaving you alone?" Toby asked. Out of the three, Toby was the closet to Alex. They had went to the same high school and shared at least two classes each year. They were never close, but after the save, he had been playing video games with the three in his apartment.
