Jon tapped his foot while waiting for someone to answer the door to Sarah's house. It had seemed like months since Athena rung the door bell. Eventually it opened and Sarah stepped out on to the porch. She gave an uncharacteristically friendly hug to Athena.
Jon noticed Sarah was wearing a long t-shirt as her pyjamas and not much else. He thought he got a glimpse of her underwear as she leaned over. It made him feel a little strange as he looked at her long legs, completely uncovered. He was currently in a female body but his male libido was still in effect. Karyn noticed him staring and gave him a gentle elbow to his side to remind him he was now a woman. Karyn was also feeling a little intimidated by Sarah even though her badly thought out wish gave her a similar body.
"This is Zoe." Athena said introducing her to Sarah. Sarah gave a half-hearted smile.
"We meet at last. Athena is always talking about you." Zoe was a little surprised.
"Really?" She asked but Sarah's attention had already moved on to Karyn.
"Karyn Black. I didn't expect to see you here. I didn't know you knew Athena."
"I don't really, she's just a mutual friend. I'm more Zoe's friend." Sarah looked surprised at Karyn's statement.
"She's a bit younger than us." Sarah said implying it was a social no-no to befriend a younger person. She was only interested in friendships with people her own age or older. Karyn recognised this trait from her own version of Sarah. She knew it applied especially to guys. Sarah's own boyfriend Biff was nearly a year older than her.
"I tutor her." Karyn explained, even though it was actually this reality's Karyn who helped Zoe. Karyn had never tutored anyone in her life.
"I see." Said Sarah, bored already with the conversation as she turned her attention to Jon. "I don't recognise you from school."
"I don't live in Lake Point." He said.
Zoe stepped in. "This is Jane my cousin. She's visiting this weekend and I didn't want to leave her at home while I went out to a party."
"Jane?" Sarah asked. Jon nodded. "Actually the more the merrier. Nearly everyone I invited pulled out at the last minute. I'm quite annoyed about it. You think you know people and they all turn out to be superficial bitches." Karyn managed to stifle a laugh caused by Sarah's hypocrisy. It didn't go unnoticed by Sarah. She looked at Karyn suspiciously. "Anyway, lets get inside and get comfy."
Everyone followed Sarah into the large living room. "We've got the place to ourselves tonight. My parents are away visiting relatives this weekend." She stuck a CD in the hi-fi and cheery pop music started to come out the speakers.
"I like this music." Karyn said trying to fit in a little. "Who is it?"
Sarah, Athena and Zoe all stared at her. Zoe laughed. "Hearts and Heads obviously. They've only had like twenty number ones. Were you trying to be funny?" She said dropping hints.
"Yeah, just a little joke." Karyn said looking a little confused.
"Let's pick a sleeping spot." Jon said directing her over to the other side of the living room. They put their backpacks on a large sofa. Jon leaned in close to her ear. "You've just admitted not recognising this world's version of The Beatles."
"Okay, I get that. I wasn't expecting music to be different."
"What are you two up to?" Sarah asked loudly. They both turned round and walked back towards the centre of the room.
"I was teaching her some better jokes." Jon said.
"Hmmm," again Sarah's short attention span kicked in, "next on the schedule is finding where my parents hid the key to the booze cabinet." Before anyone could respond there was a loud knocking sound. "Oh good the special guests have arrived."
"Special guests?" Jon asked.
"My boyfriend Biff and his pal Steve said they might pop by." Sarah explained with a grin.
"Nobody mentioned guys were going to be here." Zoe said.
"We aren't dressed for it." Athena admitted.
"Well nobody is forcing you to talk to them. They are at the back door, so I can chat to them in the kitchen. I may be a while. I'm sure you can entertain yourselves for half an hour." She disappeared through a door way. The voices of Biff and Steve could be heard in the distance.
"That's about the level of party hostessing I expect from Sarah." Karyn said as she folded her arms.
"Yes but it gives us an excellent opportunity to investigate the basement." Jon said. He turned to Athena "You've been here before, can the basement door be seen from the kitchen?"
"I don't think so. It's this way." She moved quietly through another door way. Jon picked up his backpack and followed. Zoe and Karyn followed from behind. The group soon reached a large wooden door. Athena opened it. The other side was mostly in darkness but it was still day outside so a few shards of light were visible. They managed to locate the light switch. Jon turned it on. A long staircase downwards was visible. "I'll watch the door." Athena said as the other three descended.
"See I told you." Zoe practically shouted as the large cage came into view.
"Shhh! You'll have Sarah down here if you're not careful." Zoe quickly covered her mouth realising her mistake. Jon had a quick look at the walls. "I think this is soundproofing."
As they came round the corner Jon saw some movement. A dirt covered figure was huddled in the corner of the cage. All that remained of his clothes was a torn shirt and a ripped pair of shorts. He looked thin, like he hadn't eaten in weeks.
"Jon?" Jon asked.
"Leave me alone. I don't know what you want." He lifted his head up. His face was emaciated like his body.
"Holy shit!" Karyn said as she looked at the pitiful figure. "This is a new low even for Sarah." The imprisoned Jon looked at her confused.
"Karyn?" He asked his voice croaking. His eyes were adjusting to the light. He moved his head slowly. "Zoe, what are you doing here?"
"We're here to rescue you buddy." Jon told him as he fished the DTH out of his backpack.
"Who are you?" The imprisoned Jon asked.
"I'm you." The other Jon looked confused. "We don't have time to explain right now. Can you get your hands through the bars?" Before Jon could respond another voice spoke.
"Nobody Move! Especially not you Madison." Everyone turned around. Standing on the staircase was Sarah. Biff was standing behind her holding Athena. She carried on walking down the stairs. "If I see you try to press one button on that thing. Athena gets it." Jon could see a gun was in Biff's hand and pointing at Athena's stomach.
