"Yeah!" the man yelled. He had to talk loudly, so he could be heard over the spinning helicopter blades. "It looks like at least three more converted! And two cops!" He looked through the binoculars again. "Wait a minute! It looks like the police car just changed into a hearse, like the others!"
This had been going on for at least the last fifteen minutes. Cars, that had entered the signal's radius of influence, had turned into black or gothic-type vehicles. This was the first time that Alex (the one observing) had seen actual people that had been affected. Usually they stayed in their cars, continuing to drive south. It was so horrible that these normal everyday folks became these gothic freaks, just by innocently turning on their radios.
Alex was assigned to observe from the sky. The rest of the National Guard was to the north, setting up roadblocks, trying to cut off access to the affected area, which seemed to circle the city of Pittsburgh. They had already cut off most of the area, from the east, south, and west. Now they were just filling in the gap, so that one big circular blockade separated the affected area from the rest of the country.
Soon, the military was going to sweep the area. Taking down the converted and keeping the unconverted from changing themselves. And eventually, they hoped to find the source of the signal and destroy its transmitter.
He looked down at his watch. It would be very soon.
