Across town, Erica was still at Leonard's house, still watching old sci-fi movies. At about 11 o'clock, they were watching "The Day The Earth Stood Still". Erica was having a blast. She hadn't realized that sci-fi movies were so fun to watch and she wondered why she hadn't watched them before.
There was a knock at Leonard's bedroom door. He got up and answered it, while Erica kept on watching the movie. It was his mom.
"Leonard, don't you think that your friend should be leaving soon? It's getting late."
"Okay, but this movie is almost over."
"That's fine. Finish your movie. But she'll have to leave afterwards."
"Okay." He closed the door and went back to watching the movie, which he had already seen many times. Really, it was Erica's reactions to the movies that he was watching, not the movies themselves. She really was a sci-fi geek. She was ecstatic about every movie that they had watched that night.
After the movie was over and Erica had to leave, Leonard got a surprise. She kissed him right on his lips. No one had ever kissed him before. Then she said "I love you, Leonard."
He didn't know what to say.
"I hope you feel the same way," she said, nervous that he might say no.
"I do. I really like being around you. It's just that ... I've never had a girlfriend before. Most girl's hate me, because of what I look like."
"Well, I'm not one of those girls." She smiled and went to his bedroom door. "See you tomorrow, Leonard."
"Bye," he said, and she left his bedroom and walked home.
Leonard sat on his bed. She loves me, he thought, with a smile.
