Sarah's father began noticing all sorts of foreign thoughts running through his head as he transitioned. He began thinking of giving up his once beloved job as a sports writer so he could do something with his newly increased intelligence, and soon there was little left of the old Mr. McMillan. "You know we always love to see you, Jay," he said, "but it's getting late and we should all be turning in, so why don't you go on home and Sarah will see you tomorrow at school." Jay agreed and left the house, and everyone went to bed.
The next morning, Jon woke up very early for school, as he always did (or at least now he did). He had managed to sneak in and go to bed early the night before, and his parents weren't up yet, so he had the whole day to figure out what to explain to them.
Since he had a bit of extra time before he had to leave, he turned on the morning news, as the anchor was in the middle of a story. "...All reports stated that the changes were the result of a gun-like device in possession of local teenager Jay Duncan. The police arrived at Duncan's home early this morning and took him into custody and confiscated the device, which is currently being studied to determine how it works and if there is a way to return the teenagers to normal."
Jon began to panic. If they had found Jay out and taken him in this quickly, Jon and the breast size device could be next, especially if the police had already gotten Sarah or Melissa with the personality device's reverse mode, and the newscast and police reports had undoubtedly passed out of the stone's range. Jon stared through the TV's display of the day's weather while he contemplated what his next move would be.
