When Erica and Leonard got back to "the group", Leonard saw that what Erica said had been true.

There were tons of geeks. And most of them shouldn't have been. There was the entire high school cheerleading squad: Sarah McMillan, Melissa Richards, Meagan Graison, Ashley Thompson, Allison Wright, Madison Reed, Laura Mathis, and Brooke Stevenson. He also saw a very dorky-looking Biff Meadows. And also Jon Smith and Karyn Black.

Geeks, that were supposed to be geeks, were there too. He saw Kyla Leeson and Jay Duncan, who was holding hands with Sarah. Were they a couple now?

Altogether, including Erica, there had been twelve "new" geeks.

Erica walked up to Madison, Laura, and Brooke. Sometime during her absence, they had been turned into geeks. They all wore nearly the same thing as the rest of the geek girls: a conservative white blouse and long skirt (Laura's was beige, the other two were denim). Madison and Laura wore glasses, Brooke didn't. Madison and Brooke had their hair tied back into a ponytail, whereas Laura had it in a bun, making her entire appearance seem like an elderly teacher or librarian (except that she was 16).

Erica also noticed that unlike her, all of the other geek girls wore mary jane shoes, in various colors, with white socks. Erica was the only one who wore sneakers, supposedly to match her sci-fi geek personality.

Leonard was so shocked by all of this that he had to sit down. Erica sat next to him and hugged him. She was obviously falling for him. That was strange for Leonard, because it had never happened before.
