Jon slammed the door behind him. What was he going to do? He had to get the device back from Zoe before she did something worse with it. The only thing that could help was the wishing stone.
Then he thought about Karyn, who would start to act and think more like a Goth soon, whether she fought it or not. She would be on Zoe's side. He thought about that phrase: Zoe's side. Karyn never really got along with Jon's sister and now the thought of her becoming Zoe's best friend made him sick. Jon didn't hate his sister, but he did have a problem with her lifestyle.
Soon to be Karyn's lifestyle. The idea made him sick again. He tried not to think about it.
He walked to his bed and searched around for the stone. He dropped it there after he wished for the personality device, but now it was gone. He looked all around the bed and on the floor. Still not there.
Then he remembered that Karyn was sitting on the bed when he left the room and bumped into Zoe in the hall. Maybe she picked it up, intending on giving it to Jon after she caught up with him. That means that Karyn still has it!
Jon hoped that she wouldn't give it Zoe. That would make things a thousand times worse.
