"Oh, Jon. There you are," a female voice said. Jon turned and saw his mom, looking as normal as ever, wearing a knit blouse and a pair of capris. She really didn't look any different than his mom from his own reality. If it weren't for that poster he saw in his room and the family portrait he saw in the upstairs hallway, he'd think that this reality was only slightly different than his own. But he knew better. Whereas his own mother was straight, this version of his mom wasn't and was attracted to women instead. "Dinner's almost ready. I was just coming up to tell you. Zoe and Mikey are already in the kitchen." She made a "come with me" gesture with her hand, then told him "Come on."
He figured he'd have to meet his "new" family sooner or later, so he might as well do it now. But it was situations like these when he wished that he had the stone with him. With one simple wish, he could know everything about his second mother and anything else that could help him out. As it turned out, the stone didn't come with him. And as far as he knew, the stone didn't exist in this reality. He checked his pockets, but it wasn't there. He supposed it might have been hidden in his room somewhere, but he didn't take time to check. He was just too eager to explore this reality. But he could just check later.
