"So how did it go?" asked Karyn, the next day after the tryout.
"Well, I did all the moves right, but ..."
"You didn't get on, did you?" Karyn said.
"It's like your sister had already made up her mind before I did anything. It didn't even matter that I performed all the moves perfectly. She said I was too ugly to be on the team." Joy felt like she was going to cry.
Karyn comforted her. "I know. My sister can be a real bitch sometimes."
"I tried really hard to get on the squad. This isn't fair."
"No, it's not." Karyn thought for a moment. "Maybe I could talk to her. Make her change her mind."
"I don't think she would," Joy said.
"I'll do it anyway."
Joy nodded, then asked if she could be alone.
After Karyn left Joy's bedroom to give her friend some privacy, Joy suddenly had a brilliant idea. She could use the stone to get on the cheerleading squad.
