Entering my room I quickly closed the door behind me. I had the afternoon to myself. Dad was preparing dinner, Jonatha was out with hys friends and Michelle-Anne was watching cartoons. I dropped my bag on the floor and excitedly crossed over to where I had hid the wishing stone.
Stone in hand, I flopped onto my bed and began thinking of something to wish for. While I had promised Nathen that I would help hir with hir home economics problem, there were lots of other things that I wanted to wish for and I had been waiting long enough.
I twirled the stone around in my hand, examining it and then sighed. I might as well get Nathen’s wish out of the way first. I thought about it for a moment, thinking of the right words to say and then…
“I wish that Nathen didn’t have to take home economics.”
There was the sensation of something getting in my eyes which forced me to close them, and then, when I opened them, I knew that the wish had been granted. Unfortunately, I realised that I wouldn’t be able to see the effects of that wish until I spoke to Nathen and shi was at soccer practice.
Oh well, I thought to myself. Time to make a wish with a more, immediate result.
