Ah. It is doable (Minix at least runs on a 286) but a 386 is certainly a lot easier. I've actually got a 386 box specced similarly to the Amiga, but it's running DOS/Windows 3.1 as a games machine, rather than Linux.
(If it wasn't obvious, this is kind of a hobby of mine ;D)
