(Note: Sorry, I missed that earlier wish about the boys not being able to approach the stone and it should've been there. I appreciate you enjoy fixing continuity errors Hikaru and that's cool, but I thought your latest (which this chapter is based on) missed out an important bit of information from earlier too. So I fixed it myself :) No offence meant.)
Joy thought about it for a while. "I have an idea," she said. "Sort of."
"Sort of?" replied Alison. "About Karyn or us?"
"Well, we can wish away at least some of Karyn's change, but I was really thinking about us."
"With a 'sort of'," said Alison.
"It's a big 'sort of'," continued Joy. "You see, Karyn wished that we'd become the girls we looked like. Which girls did we look like?"
"Huh? I don't understand."
"Well, think of it this way. If you're disguised as a girl and wearing a blonde wig, you look like a blonde girl. But you also look like a brunette in a wig. We can reinterpret wishes, so we can pick."
"You mean," asked Alison, "that if we're wearing padded bras, you can say 'we look like girls with big breasts' but we can also say 'we look like girls with small breasts in padded bras'?"
"Right! We can change it. I wish that Joy and I would turn into girls that looked just like Jon and Alan, and are wearing feminine disguises like we did as Jon and Alan."
Joy waited for that all-too familiar feeling of disorientation that accompanied any transformation that was the wishing stone's work, but it never came.
"It didn't work?" Alison asked.
"No," Joy replied, feeling her large and still very real breasts jiggle on her chest as she turned to her companion. "I wish I knew why."
"...And?" Alison asked, seeing the rock in her friend's hand glow brightly for an instant.
"Of course! The wish didn't work because Karyn not only wished we would turn into girls who looked exactly like our disguises, she also wished our 'disguises would become 100% real'. Turning us back into manlier girls with lots of padding would contradict that wish."
"So we're stuck like this?" the panic began to creep into Alison's voice again.
Joy noticed, she seemed to be handling their situation much better than her companion. Perhaps it was the fact she was more used to the rock, or maybe that she was more open to the idea of magic. Who knows?
Joy shook her head and replied, "I wouldn't give up yet, there must be some way to get us back to normal. I just need more time to think. Also I think I really need to pee."
Joy went off to the girl's restroom to relieve herself, with Alison following closely behind. As she entered the cubicle and clumsily hiked up her skirt, she was still trying to figure out what to do about their altered genders, their appearances, and their names. On top of that, there was what to do about Karyn, and in the back of her mind Joy worried too about Alison's mental well-being. Things certainly weren't back to normal yet.
