A few minutes after Jon arrived at the house, Alan showed up.
"So, how are we going to do this?" Alan asked.
"I'm not really sure, actually. I was hoping that ..."
They heard a noise and ducked behind a row of shrubs. The McMillan's garage door was opening and a red convertable was backing out. It was Sarah's. Karyn was in the passenger seat. She tossed something into the air and caught it. Then she smiled.
"It's the stone. She has it with her," Jon said.
"How are we gonna get it now?" Alan asked.
They listened to Karyn talking with her sister. They were talking about shopping.
"Maybe they're going to the mall?" Jon asked.
"Good enough place to start as any," Alan replied.
They waited until the car drove off. Then they came out from behind the shrubs and sprinted towards the town mall.
