"Isn't this a bit ... um ... awkward?" asked Karyn. "It isn't portable. How could we get back? Or port whenever we want?"
"Maybe reality changed so these devices are common," Jon said. "Let's just give it a try. What's the worst that can happen?"
"You don't know that reality was changed so that these things are everywhere. Maybe you should make a wish to make it that way," Karyn suggested.
"Okay, okay," Jon said, with a sigh. "I wish that every house and building has one of these teleportation devices and that everyone uses them as commonly as they now use cars." The stone glowed and suddenly Jon's teleportation chamber disappeared from his room. "Hey, where'd it go?"
"You said there's one per house," Karyn said. "Maybe it's somewhere where your family can easily access it."
"Right," Jon said. He then left his bedroom and walked downstairs. Karyn followed.
Just like what Karyn had figured, they found the teleportation chamber in the living room, near the front door.
"Oh. Hi, Jon. Hi, Karyn," his mom said. "I'm running a little late for work. You two have a nice day at school, okay?"
"Okay, Mom," Jon said. Then he watched as she opened the teleportation chamber door and walked inside. After closing the door, she seemed to say something (the chamber must have been nearly sound proof) and then suddenly there was a bright flash of light. When the light was gone, so was his mother.
"It looks like this device really is commonplace," Jon said. "My mom didn't even think twice about using it."
