"I was going to try Sarah," explained Jon.
"Do that and you get two bitches," replied Karyn. "Or one less bitchy and one more bitchy. And Sarah's bad enough."
"I don't think it has to work that way," explained Jon. "The merge can work more than one way. It could just average the traits--someone more bitchy and someone less bitchy becomes in-between. Or it could pick and choose--take the hair from one person, the bitchiness from the other, the legs from the first and the feet from the second, that sort of thing."
"And you're reversing that," said Karyn.
"Right. So it might do a reverse average--one more bitchy and one less bitchy. Or it might do a reverse pick one--one is bitchy and the other can be anything at all. And there's only one way to find out."
Jon aimed the device at Sarah and pressed 'Enter'. Light engulfed Sarah's body as she seemed to stretch out and twist, her body elongating and then, like a drop of water falling from a faucet, suddenly separating. A moment later there were two girls there. They were sitting next to each other--the empty seat near Sarah was now occupied. The device, which showed the name of its target, now had two names on it. "Samantha McMillan" and "Laura McMillan." Both were still age 17.
Samantha had hair similar to Sarah's--long and blonde. Laura's hair was long and brunette. Samantha had a few freckles, Laura didn't. They were both about equally busty, but Samantha seemed a little shorter and Laura seemed a little taller. They had on similar dresses, but instead of pink, Samantha's was darker, almost red, and Laura's was white.
"Hmm," said Karyn. "The hair color was a reverse pick one, the hair length was the same, the height was a reverse average, so are their dresses, but the freckles are a pick one... I wonder if they both act like Sarah?"
"Do you want to talk to them?" asked Jon.
"If they're anything like Sarah," said Karyn, "that might be embarrassing."
"Yeah, Karyn, but if you get in real trouble I can always wish it away.... But let's wait until class is over. My wish only lets us talk, if you talk to them during class the teacher will notice."
