The royals had the final dance of the evening and they smiled. The dukes had dates that they danced with. Duke Ryder was with a different woman than before. Ryder's smile after the dance was just as strained as the queen dowager's. She seemed to be smitten with him. That was something to keep in mind. I already told him that I'd keep quiet, and I was going to keep my word. Bastion addressed the crowd and said "Thank you for joining me for this evening of music and dancing. I tell everyone that will listen that music and dance is the way to experience the full range of human emotions." He then had a hiccup. His cheeks were red from the drinking he had done. It made the queen dowager glare at him. He did not notice and said "It is my favorite time of these galas. We will now announce the Lords and Ladies of the Dance. I throw this gala once a year to honor the new cadets that receive commissions. We have been watching all night and we have picked the male and female cadet that have done the best and the most numerous dances."
Everyone murmured amongst themselves. I wondered if I was going to get it. I certainly danced a lot, but I also had been gone for a while. Duke Bastion continued with his speech. "For the cadets that had danced the most, I call Davie Davids and Suzie Mechaheart." he said. We stepped forward and knelt in front of them. A sergeant-at-arms came into view with a ceremonial blade. King Gervis took the blade and dubbed us Lord and Lady of the dance. "You may ask for a boon from us. Speak and we will hear it" Queen Dowager Wendy said. Suzie smiled and said "Make us Knights." There were many gasps in the room. King Gervis said "That is in our power. I, as the sovereign of Wendalia, use the power vested in me by blood to dub thee Dame Suzie Mechaheart and Sir Davie Davids." He dubbed us again with the blade. We were then told to rise and the others clapped. We went into the crowd and were surrounded by the Pretty boys. "The next Lord and Ladies of the Dance will be determined by the best dancer of each genre." Duke Bastion said.
It was great as I won the award for the waltz. Since I was already a winner it had to go to someone else. It was an omega and a Switch from my academy. The swing dances went to a royal academy pair of Alphas. We were all surprised when the foxtrot prize went to Finn. That final dance pushed him over the top. He went ahead and bowed in front of the royal family. Because of Suzie, all the winners requested to be knighted. Duke Bastion was pleased and said "I will use the power vested in me to induct the winners of tonight's gala into a new knightly order. I dub thee knights of the Order of the Silver Ball, First Class." Everyone was surprised. Especially the royal family. "Where will they be held?" Felix asked with a derisive grin. "A new hero's hall will be built in Uppurt." was the reply. "What will their salaries be then!? Who will pay it?" An exasperated King Gervis said as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "I will pay them a salary to be determined." he said. That was that. We all heard it and he had invoked his royal privilege to create an order.
All that could happen now was for him to back down and disband the order. I kind of hoped it did not happened though. I liked the idea of being a knight. The gala was a success as far as I was concerned. It was also now over for the night. The cars were ready to take us to the academy. We got in the car and drove back to the academy in time for Roll Call and Lights out. Karl and I walked in our room and locked the door. "Were you able to find a cadet to breed you?" I asked him. He blinked and said "If you want to know, I was bred by seven Alphas. I can tell you were bred too." He was very perceptive and I said "Yes. I found a guy that I liked and one thing led to another." Karl stepped way too close to me and I tripped up on my bed when I backed up. Karl blinked and leaned over me. Karl said "Something concerned me about what you said." I nodded as I looked up at him. "I do not wish for you to think I do not care for you." he said. I continued to look at him. He placed his hands under both my thighs and lifted them. "You are not Muro. I can never love you. I can breed you gently. Would you like that?" he explained bluntly to me.
