It wasn't about emotional investment in my char (I make a point of trying to make sure my avatar has the flaws I know I do, anything to avoid a Mary Sue) so much as in the work I had put in the plan. But it's okay.

A small detail, since you chose the "explain why the summit won't take place" route: Lucas will still be thrilled that Neruite even trusted her with such a thing, even if said thing never came to pass.
