Jon enjoyed the rest of the day with the Blacks. After sunset, everyone gathered in the living room to play a game of Monopoly. Jon was immediately skeptical that Megan would have the attention span necessary to finish the game and his suspicions proved to be correct when Megan gave up after an hour.
"I hate this stuff. Why can't we go somewhere fun next year!"
"Megan, I promise you'll have fun if you give this place a chance. Tomorrow we're going to drive out to a lake to go for a hike." Mr. Black attempted to calm Megan but it was clear that she wasn't interested in his plans.
"Lakes are boring!" she yelled as she got up from the living room sofa. "I'm going to get my makeup from Karyn's bag."
Jon thought it was amusing that Karyn let Megan put stuff in her bag, but Karyn always was a relatively simple dresser and that probably translated to extra bag space. It took Jon almost five minutes to realize that Megan was now alone in the room with the wishing stone.
"I'll be right back. Restroom," Jon said as he left Mr.and Ms. Black at the table. When he turned the corner towards his room, he witnessed Megan holding the stone in her hands.
"God, you're a sentimental little weirdo. Did you really collect a rock as a memento or is this some stupid thing Jon gave you?"
Jon was taken back by Megan's last statement, he didn't expect her to mention his real self like that.
"I wish our parent's took us somewhere interesting for vacation," Megan said with the stone still in her hand.
"Fuck!" Jon winced then opened his eyes to see that he was now standing with Megan in what appeared to be a hotel room.
"What just happened?" Megan asked as she looked around. They walked out of the room to see a decent-sized condominium with a balcony overlooking a beautiful beach. "Is that the ocean!?"
"Yes, honey," responded Karyn's mother as she walked out of a nearby room. "I swear, there is no satisfying you. You literally begged us to go to the beach this summer."
Megan grabbed Jon by the sleeve and pulled him back into the nearby bedroom. "What the fuck is this thing!?"
"Sssssshhh. I need you to give that back to me and promise to never tell mom and dad! It's a magic stone Jon received from his grandfather. It grants the wishes of whoever holds it but all wishes are permanent, so you can't use it without being incredibly careful."
"No way am I giving this thing up. I've already improved our vacation, let's see what else I can do to spice things up here. I promise I'll give it back to you at the end of the week. Then you can give it back to your stupid boyfriend."
Jon pouted but refused to say anything in response. He knew there was no reasoning with Megan. He'd have to steal it back from her when she isn't paying attention.
