Jon's grandfather looked over at the others who were chained to the rock wall in Supay's dungeon and nodded to one of the prisoners. "Go on. Do it," he said in Spanish.
The woman he was speaking to closed her eyes and began to mutter something to herself.
"Everyone, please. I can get us out of this. Just believe in me," Jon's grandfather said, again in Spanish. Then all the other prisoners closed their eyes and began to mutter to themselves ... in prayer.
Prayer directed to Jon's grandfather.
You see, before he gave up the stone, he used it to give himself the same power as Supay. But as with Supay, his power only came from those who worshiped him. And right now, he was using that worship (supplied by the other prisoners) to increase his power enough so that he could release himself from his chains. Then, of course, he would free the others.
But, could they do all of this behind Supay's back and get away with it?
