"Jon...my friend...Jon," Karyn insisted.
"Is this a new boy at school? Are you dating?"
"No!"
"Well, bring him around sometime, either way. I'd like to meet him," Bethany said.
Karyn looked around for the stone...it was gone. After getting her mother out, she hurried to her computer and did a search..first for Jon Gibson...nothing. Then Jane Gibson...nothing.
She tried to remember Jon's mom's maiden name. She'd met his grandfather...his name was...Doyle... BINGO
_Jane Doyle, CEO of MTI. There was a business magazine profile of her. She'd ousted the company founder, Richard McMillan, as CEO about a year previously in a major organizational shakeup. Richard was still a major shareholder, but had no real power.
Karyn was shocked. Jon's mother looked ten years younger, perfectly fit, and...well, hardly maternal. She had a reputation as a hard working and cutthroat businesswoman. No wonder she didn't have kids anymore. This version of her doesn't look like she even likes kids.
