I turned out that much of the time there was nothing to do. While there was one enemy raid by a rival tribe, It was not while I was there. I had logged in at the very end. I got a kill in, but none of the warriors even appreciated it at all. Adius was a bit angry at me. One reason was because I was 'sleeping too deeply' like he warned me about. Another was because he came around to believing me about being pregnant. The mares and fillies did not want anything to do with me either. I made sure that I checked in everyday, but I found myself spending more and more time in Wishbone City. Not only was I more independent in this profile, I was also a central figure in story of the city. Due to the two mermen being kidnapped, they became even more aggressive and angry. In fact,-I had missed it because I was on the plains- but Sam and Harry told me that they attacked a ship and declared war on the city. There were only about twenty of them, but they were vicious and strong enemies, especially in the water. They said they would not rest until they had our heads.

Seeing that no one ever came to arrest us, the city must not have had any clue that we were at fault. Now that Wishbone was at war, most the city NPCs began to look downtrodden and nervous. The talk of the marketplace and in the taverns turned somber and whispers about the war were constant. There were some NPCs were in good cheer. Namely the hopeful mercenaries and soldiers. Being a coastal city, Wishbone had a militia, a garrison and a standing navy and army. Merpeople would not be able to stage a land invasion, but they have pulled off dozen guerrilla attacks on the port and the civilian piers. Their mages would cause waves to crash and along the wood and sweep people into the water. Their engineers made a large glass contraption that, when shattered, made fire spread for devastating AOE damage. While this was going on, the security was raised. This turned out to be a double edged sword. They were hyper focused on external threats, but blind to the societal rot within the city.

The thieves guild was becoming rich by stealing munitions and supplies from garrison and army depots. They would then sell them on the black market. Merchant guilds jacked up their prices on everything under the thin guise of "supply shortage brought on by the war effort". The churches unsympathetic to the war were suppressed and the followers were brutally mocked and called traitors. There were even whispers of NPCs disappearing in the middle of the night. I was completing a quest of collecting debts from people who borrowed from the guild and have not paid on time. This was the third time in a row that I got the quest. Every quest had three targets. That told me lots of NPCs were in debt to the shady underbelly of the city. It was nighttime when I was walking back to my house. I had finally completed enough missions to get the Veteran rank in the guild. This meant that I could recruit a Loiterer to follow me on a quest. That was a nice perk. I just needed to get one from the hideout. Sam was still horny for me, but we had an understanding.

Walking down the alleys did not give me any fear. The thieves in the guild all knew me. Any other bandits were not strong enough to kill me. I kept a low enough profile to keep out of the hair of the other factions in the city. The city was on age and looking for phantoms, and I was one of them. All of a sudden I heard a crash and drew my rapier. I approached and saw that an assassin and white and gray clad swordsman fighting. I called out to them. I did not know what was going on, but I just wanted to get by. They both turned to me for a second. The Master ranked assassin slashed the swordsman in the side and pinned him down. The assassin then tried to push a sick looking dagger into his throat. The swordsman was holding him at bay and it seemed like they were in a deadlock. The swordsman was not wearing sleeves and I saw a tattoo with the roman numeral XVI on his arm. That was unusual so I decided to help him. I slashed at the assassin and he jumped off of the swordsman. "You've made a grave mistake" he said before charging me.
