After thinking about it I choose the plain house by the chapel. The realtor smiled and said "Good choice, sir. Would you like to rent this house or buy it outright? I assure you the price is reasonable". I gave her the 1000 lin for the house and she gave me the key. As I was walking away I heard her mutter "I guess crime does pay" under her breath. I turned to her and said "This money was given to me fair and square". She jolted upright and tried to apologize, but I turned and left the office. I did not care about her enough to stay. It was time to go see the house. As I walked through the marketplace, I remembered my mission to pickpocket someone. I stopped and looked for a target that looked distracted. I wasn't sure about the mechanics for pulling off a successful pickpocket. I saw a person yelling at a servant. The servant was dazed as groceries were strewn around her on the floor. I saw the opportunity. While the man was still berating her, I snuck up behind him. I reached for his pocket and my mind flashed to a menu.

I saw all the things he had on him at the time. There was also a percentage of how easy or difficult it would be to take something. My chances slowly dropped the longer I looked at them. I chose the Ring of Blizzard and I had to play a minigame. There were sliding gates with an opening. A tutorial appeared and told me that I had to shoot my will through the opening in the gate to get what I wanted and then shoot it back out through the gap again without hitting the gate. It said that it gets harder as time goes on or as attention is drawn to me. As it was currently, there were many openings. I was able to get it in without much difficulty. The gate began to narrow, but I was also able to get it out easily. The minigame ended and I felt the ring in my hand as I walked off. "That was nice" I said as I got clear of the marketplace. I was going to go to continue on to my house when Norman stepped in front of me. "Let me see what you took" he said as he looked at me through his glasses. I showed him the ring and he nodded. "Nice job. You pass" he said.

He let me pass and placed a hand on my shoulder. "I will report this to Sam and Harry. Have a nice day" he said. I nodded as the popup appeared to tell me I passed the quest. I equipped the ring as I walked briskly toward my house. The ring supposedly allowed anyone 10% stronger ice magic. I shrugged. I was planning to make my centaur a healer focused mage. Now that I had this ring, there was nothing to stop me from getting spell books and using magic along with my thieving. Jessie used magic. I approached the house and used my key to enter the house. There was a bed, a cloak stand, a wooden table with a single chair, a table with a small candle, and a small chest. Outside in the yard was a wooden privy. I was going to have to get some new furniture at some point in the near future. Either by hook or by crook. After a few minutes, I went to the chapel to check it out. I was curious about the different religions for lore reasons. I wouldn't even mind joining one of them. The lore interested me quite a bit.

There were 6 main churches that were in Ether. They centered around the Sun, Moon, Stars, Sky, Wind and the Rivers. They all had their own unique church hierarchies and philosophies that they followed. The architecture and clergy were heavily influenced by the model of the Catholic and Orthodox churches. There were other minor cults operating with devout NPCs worshippers as well. Only the churches of the Sun and Moon had paladin orders. I thought that paladins were badass. The Church of the Sky had a simple monastic order. The Church of the Wind had many missionaries that went to foreign lands to convert barbarians to the religion peacefully and not by the sword. The churches of the Stars and Rivers were only priestly cults. I read a dev's blog about them. The chapel was small. It only fit two dozen people. I guessed that was due to there not being many followers of the Church of the Wind in the city. I stuck my head in, but there was no one there. I sighed and returned to my home to log off the game.
