At home, the stranger was thinking. Maybe he should have... No... Oh, why not? If he's going to make it produce pregnancy, why not do it all the way? It would take a careful wish but it could work--once it's no longer a harness any wishes that "the harness could only" wouldn't have to stay true.
He took his own stone and said "I wish that the empathy belly that was Jon's stone would grow like a real pregnancy when worn. I wish that once it reaches nine months in size it would permanently become real, including any anatomy needed to give birth. I wish that the wearer would then give birth normally and wishes would be granted by touching the baby.
Jon didn't use the empathy belly at all throughout the next day. Of course, he hadn't noticed it was no longer a rock. He'd left it at home went he went to school, securely hidden in his wardrobe. He and Karyn had plans for it, but they weren't in a rush.
When he did get together with Karyn, he explained, "I figured out how to get rid of your hair and breasts. It was the belly that gave me the idea. Just like it's fake, I could wish your breasts are fake, and that the fakes are on top of ones that are your normal size. The hair can be a wig."
Jon quickly made the wish and it worked; Karyn took off the wig and fake breasts and was just like she was before. "Better get that off now," she said. "You don't want it to turn real."
"I don't think it's at nine months yet," replied Jon.
"But it could be close. What if it's less than a day away and you wear it for a day? What if it's a minute away? It looked awfully big to me."
"It's a pain to take off," said Jon.
"It'll be more than a pain if it turns real and you go into labor," said Karyn.
Jon nodded. "Maybe I should take it off," he said. "I just hope that nobody breaks in and tries to steal it while I have it lying on my desk."
"They'll never stumble onto the wish power," said Karyn. "I mean, who randomly puts on a pregnancy belly and then says 'I wish'?"
"They could have watched me use it, so they know it works."
"Then they wouldn't know about the 'becomes real' part."
"Yeah, but that isn't good...."
