Jon decided he would speak with Karyn later today, and then they'd join together to decide what wish they'd make.
Still not suspecting that the stone he now possessed was not the original wishing rock, he took the Spelling Stone with him to school.
On the way, he ran into Biff Meadows, from the school football team. Biff tripped him up, causing him to fall painfully onto the sidewalk. "Look where you're going, nerd!" Biff called out, with a mocking laugh.
Jon found himself grabbing onto the stone. He was relieved to find that it had stayed in his pocket.
"Why don't you leave me alone?" Jon protested.
"Why don't YOU get out of my sight and make us both happy, loser?" Biff growled.
"I wish you weren't so mean." Jon replied.
At this point, the stone's magic went to work. However, since this was not the original magical wishing stone, the effects were not what Jon was expecting.
Biff's stomach began expanding. It was clear he was putting on a great deal of weight. "What ... what's happening?" he uttered, clearly terrified.
"I ... don't know." Jon replied truthfully. He didn't understand just how his wish could be interpreted this way.
But indeed, before him, Biff Meadows stood, no longer lean and muscular, but rather pudgy.
Instead of making it so that he wasn't so mean, the Spelling Stone had changed Biff so that he wasn't so lean.
