Karyn held the stone in her hand, not realizing that it was actually The Ethical Stone, and said "I wish Sarah McMillan was fat and ugly."
"Whoa, Karyn," Jon said. "Isn't that a little too mean?"
"After how she's been treating us? She deserves a lot worse." She paused. "Hey, isn't the stone supposed to glow when a wish gets made?"
"Yeah."
"Well, it didn't," Karyn said, then she turned when she heard a familiar laugh. It was Sarah and she looked as normal as ever. "My wish didn't come true. Sarah didn't change. What the hell is wrong with this thing?"
"Let me see it," Jon said, holding out his hand. Karyn gave it to him and he looked closely at it. It looked normal, except ... "That's strange."
"What?"
"I don't know. Something about the stone looks ... off. It looks too red, if that makes any sense."
"So what are you saying? The stone is broken?" Karyn asked.
"I'm not sure. Let me try and make a wish. Maybe there's something else wrong with it." He paused, thinking of something to wish for, then said "I wish ..."
