Karyn reappeared in another bedroom. But she didn't know whose.
The room was dark, since it was only about four in the morning, so Karyn couldn't quite see. But she did see some movement on the far end of the room. As her eyes adjusted to the lack of light, she saw that it was someone sleeping on a bed. As her eyes adjusted more, she saw that it was a girl.
Was this her help? A girl?
The girl moved around in bed, restlessly. Karyn decided that if this is what the stone considered "help", then she should at least take it. She walked over to the bed and shook the girl awake, not thinking about how she was going to explain the reason for her being there.
The girl's eyes flew open and stared at Karyn. "Luminarium!" the girl yelled and suddenly the whole room was engulfed in light. Once she could see the girl, Karyn immediately recognized her. Her name was Athena. She was one of Zoe's best friends. And like Zoe, she was a Goth girl.
"How did you do that?" Karyn asked.
"How did you get into my room?" Athena asked.
"Well, that's a little hard to explain." But then she remembered how Athena made everything lit. She obviously knew something about magic, so why would a magic stone be so hard to explain? "I came here by using this," Karyn said, showing Athena the stone.
Athena seemed to recognize it. "Okay. That's how you got here. But why are you here?"
"That will be hard to explain," Karyn said. Mainly because I don't have all the answers myself, she thought.
