Clutching the wishing stone, Karyn said "I wish Zoe no longer had control over Jon, Jon's mother, and Sarah." The stone glowed, but nothing seemed to happen.
"What was that?" Zoe said, seeing the flash of light out of the corner of her eye. "Jon, go see what it was."
"Yes, my Goddess," Jon said, walking out of the room.
How come it didn't work? Karyn thought, just as Jon grabbed her arm and pulled her into the bedroom.
"It's Karyn," Jon said. "And she has the wishing stone."
Karyn glared at Jon for telling them about the stone.
"That explains the flash of light," Zoe said, then looked at Karyn. "What? You thought that puny thing could stop my power? Think again."
Karyn suddenly felt very small and powerless. Yes, she had the stone. And it was a very powerful magical item, but apparently not powerful enough. Out of desperation, Karyn then said "I wish I had help to stop you." The stone glowed and Karyn disappeared from the room, keeping Zoe from making Karyn her fourth servant.
But where did Karyn go? And whose help would Karyn get?
