Jon walked up to Stephanie, why did he feel nervous? he'd done this before....
"HI!" he said just loud enough so that people in the next continent could hear.
The room stopped for a second and looked at him. It was a moment of sheepish greatness.
"hi" he said in a much smaller voice, as the room went about talking about whatever and such.
"Your one of zoe's friends right?"
"yeah, I'm Stephanie, I'm new to all this, have you read this before?"
She held up Y the Last man.
"Oh yeah!" he'd heard of it once. "it's amazing i've read the whole thing, pleasegooutwithme" The last word wasn't misspelled, it's just how it came out of his mouth.
"ummm your sweet" Steph replied, it was weird, she was used to dating goths, which was more of a if your part of the crowd your "in" thing, but here was jon obviously part of her new crowd and she wasn't quite sure, and there was also a part of her that was amazed a boy was talking to her at all, a part that was unsure of how to handle any of this, contradicting all the experience she had letting guys down who had a thing for gothic chicks but weren't ready to commit to what she had. She looked down at the ground, eye contact seemed hard, had she looked up she would have seen he was looking down too.
"I like your shoes" jon said, in a desperate attempt to keep the conversation alive.
"Thanks, i wear them." Steph said back, and nervously looking over at Trevor, who she wanted for some odd reason to come over. He was talking to Zelda, who now reminded her of a gamer, looking at a Laura Croft costume which would never fit her in a thousand years. Zelda was an old friend.
"ummm, I got to go..." she dropped her books and ran over to Zelda.
Jon was dumbfounded. She said i was sweet! The universe shook it's head saddly at this.
Kayla was trying to read. She was trying to read her shirt, in a mirror. It wasn't working out so good.
"Wow Jay, did you ever notice that when you look in a mirror words don't make sense anymore? Wouldn't it be awesome if we didn't look like we looked in the mirror but slightly different, but we could never tell because we only can see ourselves in mirrors anyway? I Hope not because i like the way i look now, this is totally awesome and i have you here to cuddle with, this is awesome. Do you think we'll stay this way, or it's like some freak thing..OMG (she actually said OMG and not you know the words "oh my God") What if we wake up tomorrow and we are different again, What if we're freaks like Karyn? There is no way I'll dress like her, i mean I know i used to not dress well, but that was just wrong and I'm better now and I've got you and it's awesome. Honey?"
It took Jay a second to answer since he had learned to only half listen, but soon the silence awoke him from the pleasant zoning he was doing.
"oh yeah babe?"
"promise me you'll never change?"
"Oh uhhh yeah, i'll never change." she was so freaking Hot. he'd do her.
she cuddled him. "i wuv you"
The universe threw up a little in it's mouth.
