I don't think the site is dying, it's just a little quieter than usual (as someone pointed out not long ago, this is coming down from an unusual height of activity in recent months.)
As for "to your tastes," I'd say, write your own material, then! When I started writing here, there wasn't much to my tastes either, but sitting around waiting for that to suddenly happen wouldn't have accomplished anything.
