Jon sighed and said "Fine," giving up. Athena was obviously the expert here, as she probably knew more about magic and magical beings than Jon. And if she said run away, then that was exactly what Jon was going to do. Not to save himself, but to keep others out of harm's way. The guy was after Jon, not anyone else.
