Meanwhile, Mikey was having a strange morning as well. Not bad, though. After getting on the school bus, he went out of his way to stay away from Fred Orr, as usual. Fred was a total jerk and liked to bully Mikey. But today, Mikey saw a completely different Fred. He didn't look like a bully at all. In fact, he seemed quite a bit like Mikey himself. Imagine his surprise when Fred actually invited him to sit with him, as if they were friends or something. Mikey didn't know what was going on, but he cautiously did as Fred wanted. And on the way to school, the two got along great. They had so much in common.
But after arriving to the elementary school, Mikey was in for another surprise. This one not as pleasant. It looked like Fred wasn't the only one that was different. A lot of people were, including Benny Gates, Mikey's best friend.
