He woke up the next day and smiled. Things were looking up for Jon. He was able to shapeshift at will. He sleepily walked over to the dresser and opened the box his grandfather gave him. The stone was back in its place. "I need to make sure I'm protected from this thing" he said to himself. He picked it up in his hands. Jon said "I wish that if anyone tries to break my will or change my thoughts with wishes from the stone or with physical or mental torture, it will rebound on the person who tried to do it". His head felt warm and fuzzy for a moment.
Taking it as a sign he was protected, he took his shower and got dressed. As he was getting ready to leave for school, he packed the stone in his box and put it in his bag. He met Karyn at the bus stop. She smiled at him and it made him feel good. "Did you think of a good wish yet?" he asked her. She nodded. He took the box out of the bag and handed it to her. She just looked at him. "We have time before the bus comes. You can try a wish out if you want" he offered. "Really!? You're giving it to me?" she said in an ecstatic voice.
She took the stone out the box and held it in her hands. She said "I wish I could speak to horses and understand what they want to communicate to me." she said. She almost dropped the stone when she clutched her throat in shock. Jon was surprised with her wish. He knew that she liked horses. She would not have been his friend if he didn't think she liked them. She told him that they were cuter than cats. She straightened up and said "I guess that is a way to tell if a wish on your own body takes hold". She then rolled it in her hand and said "I wish that I had a million dollars in my bank account, and no one thought it was weird". Jon wished he had thought about it as well. "I want a million dollars too. Wish for me?" Jon said.
Karyn nodded and did as he asked. He pulled out his phone and looked at his app. Jon entered his password and he saw the money had been entered into his account. He made a fist pump and said "Yes!". Their bus turned the corner a few blocks away. Jon asked for the stone back. Karyn held the stone closer to her chest. "Let me make another wish. Please?" she begged. Jon sighed and said "Make it quick. I need it back". She smiled and he rolled his eyes. "I wish that Jon and I'll get straight A's in all our classes as long as we are in school no matter how much effort we put in. I also wish no one finds it weird or gets jealous of us for it".
