"Yeah, and a staunch Republican too. Really all conservative and pro-business and shit," Nadine said. "Handsome too, but totally a major turn-off otherwise. Your father's the same way, apparently. For some reason, people love him for it. He's trying to fix Lake Point, but I don't think it needs to be fixed. I like it just the way it is. The way it's supposed to be, anyway."
Stephanie was shocked about that too. Her father was a drunk who didn't care about anyone but himself. Him? As mayor of Lake Point? That sounded ludicrous. About as much as Stephanie having supposed to be a boy, and a conservative one at that. What the fuck was going on around here?
"So, it's like part of Lake Point is now some...different kind of town," Jon said.
"It has a lot of color and interesting people and food." Nadine said. "There's your big difference. You live in the 50s black and white TV version of Lake Point."
Everyone but Nadine frowned at that. It wasn't exactly untrue. Nadine's Lake Point was a much rougher place. At least their part of it. It seemed to have more apartment buildings and stores. It looked more like a downtown area than where they were.
